Talbot County Board of Elections Meeting - Presentation by Shari Wilcoxon

In Talbot County, we currently have 29,726 eligible voters. Just last month, that
number was reported as 28,880. At the same time, Talbot County reports 30,327 total
registered voters. These numbers result in a registration rate of 102.02% - meaning
we have more registered voters than eligible citizens.
Of those registered voters, 28,532 are classified as "active." Which represents
95.98% of all registered voters. For comparison, the national average for active
voters is 73.6%.
Talbot County is therefore 22.38% higher than the national average.
With a registration rate of 102.02%, Talbot County ranks as the 6th highest county in
Maryland for exceeding eligible voter registration. The counties ahead of Talbot are:
- Charles County - 105%
- Worcester County - 105%
- Queen Anne's County - 105%
- Howard County - 104%
- Montgomery County - 104%
- Talbot County - 102%
party parity report required by law. Instead, an empty template was submitted with
no explanation. When questioned by Board Member Lovelady, those questions were
not answered.
This occurred in the same month Talbot County was reported to have received nine
Open Meetings Act violations, at that time, more than any other county in
Maryland.
Given these facts: 102% voter registration, missing required reports, and multiple
violations. It is entirely reasonable for the public to ask:
Why shouldn't we question the actions of this Board and its Executive Director?
